10 Ways To Build Self Confidence

Self confidence is a topic so worth discussing as its something that I feel all girls have had their struggles with. I know I have definitely had my struggles, and gone through times where I have felt so self conscious and worried so much about what other people think.  But, when I am having those down days I try and go back to this list to build myself up again. So I really hope it helps all you beautiful girls too.

10 Ways to Build Self Confidence:

  1. Exercise – To me, exercise is the best medicine, and has always been my go-to when I’m not feeling my best. Exercise releases endorphins, which makes us happy, boosts our mood and therefore makes us feel good about ourselves. So its very important to make this time for yourself each day and make exercise a part of your routine. Taking good care or your body, and seeing and feeling the positive results is all going to make you feel more confident and proud of who you are.
  2. Sleep – Getting enough sleep is crucial to feeling good about yourself. I dont know about you, but if I am sleep deprived I get emotional and everything just seems overwhelming when I dont have the energy I should. I am not a great sleeper as it is, so exercise really helps me sleep well. AND, beauty sleep is a real thing girls, so make sure you are getting enough hours on that pillow.
  3. Eating Healthy – I live by the very simple saying, ‘What you put in, you get out’. There is so much truth to this saying because when I eat well I truly feel good, and when I eat badly I dont only feel guilty about putting bad food into my body, but I bloat and feel uncomfortable too. I also find that exercise and getting enough sleep encourages healthy eating, and the combo of the three, will make you feel better than ever, trust me.
  4. Treat Yo Self – While I am all for regular exercise and eating healthy, I truly believe in balance, and treating yourself to something a bit more indulgent every so often is essential to staying on track. I’m not saying have a treat every day, but if you eat out once a week its ok to share a dessert or have a glass of champagne, or whatever your idea of a treat is.
  5. Journaling – This is something that I have recently started doing a few times a week. The process of physically writing down your thoughts, seeing them on paper and reading them back to yourself is very theraputic and really helps organize your thoughts and feelings. So when you are feeling low, try writing down all the positive things in your life, your achievements and even all your goals for the future, and that will inspire you to feel good, stay on track, and strive to reach those goals.
  6. Do a Good Deed – Doing something nice for someone else is a very modest way of feeling good about yourself. It can be as small as smiling at someone, giving an elderly lady or man your seat, or holding the door open for someone. Seeing the happiness you give that person really does make you happy.
  7. Retail Therapy – There is nothing better than a good stroll around the shops, and a possible purchase to make you feel better. Sometimes, a new pair of shoes or that hand bag you have wanted for ages can make you feel good. But, you dont even need to buy anything, window shopping can be just as good to take your mind off things. Shopping can be cardio after all and we all know the benefits of exercise.
  8. Pamper Yourself – As girls, a good pamper sesh always helps us feel good. So, go get your hair done or book in for a manicure when you feel you need a little confidence boost.
  9. Get Dressed Up – After a long week of working hard, fitting in your exercise and eating well, its always nice to celebrate all your hard work by getting dressed up and going out for dinner or meeting friends for drinks. Personally, picking out a hot outfit and spending a bit of time on my hair and makeup makes me feel good.
  10. Surround Yourself with Positivity People – The people you choose to surround yourself with have a huge impact on you and how you feel. If your friends are all happy, positive, driven, ambitious people, they will influence you in all the right ways and add to the happy, self confident you.

I hope this list helps you like it has helped me. Have you struggled with self confidence before? Please comment below if you would like to share any effective ways to boost your self confidence.
